Christian heritage, personally considered

Faith & Footsteps

Build the journey around your community's tradition and the questions it wants to explore. Jerusalem and Ein Kerem provide a starting point; Nazareth and Galilee can form a northern chapter only when current advice and access support it. This is a conditional planning concept, with a central-region alternative developed when needed.

Made for

Church groups, private pilgrims and families seeking a Christian heritage programme.

One way your story could unfold

A little structure.
A lot to discover.

01

Arrive with intention

Gather in Jerusalem and introduce the journey's spiritual and historical themes. Keep the first evening gentle, with room for the group leader to set expectations. Confirm any worship needs privately and make space for guests whose interests are cultural rather than explicitly devotional.

02

Jerusalem's Christian heritage

Plan a focused Old City route around selected Christian heritage sites, with time for interpretation and reflection. Religious sites have their own practices and access conditions. Agree the day's priorities in advance so that the group can respond calmly if a route needs changing.

03

A wider historical view

Use a museum or guided context session to explore the setting behind the places visited. Keep the programme open to questions and different levels of prior knowledge. A quieter afternoon gives participants time for personal reflection, a short walk or conversation with the group leader.

04

Ein Kerem and a slower rhythm

Explore Ein Kerem through its Christian associations and village setting, with exact site access confirmed beforehand. Choose a walking route suited to the group and allow time for lunch. Avoid treating every religious building as automatically open for group entry or private worship.

05

The next chapter, conditionally

If current advice and access support northern travel, continue towards Nazareth with a confirmed programme. Otherwise remain in the central region for a heritage or community-focused day. The alternative is planned before commitments are made, so the group's purpose remains clear whichever route is used.

06

Galilee themes or a central alternative

A northern programme may explore selected Gospel-related sites around Galilee, with travel and visitor arrangements checked individually. If that route is unsuitable, use a Jerusalem-based study, museum or reflection programme. No boat trip, church visit or northern excursion is assumed to be operating.

07

Bring the journey together

Return towards the departure base with a realistic travel window, or continue the central-region programme. Reserve the evening for a shared meal and reflection on the journey. Give the group leader room to shape the closing moment in a way that fits the community.

08

Departure and continuation

Keep the final day centred on departures, with an optional short gathering only where timing permits. Participants can leave with questions and reading suggestions chosen by their leader. Any extension, border crossing or visit outside the confirmed route needs its own planning and approval.

Before we put dates in the diary

  • Reviewed November 1, 2026: US advice identifies areas north of Route 85 to Route 90 (south) to Route 87 as Do Not Travel. Northern days are inspiration, not current travel recommendations.
  • The group's denomination, worship requirements and preferred balance of faith and history shape the final programme. Services and private access require specific permission.
  • Bethlehem and other West Bank visits are not included in this sample. They require a separate review of travel advice, transport, access and the group's circumstances.
Our journeys are starting points, not scheduled departures. Routes and experiences depend on current official guidance, local conditions and the needs of your group. Read our travel notes before making commitments.
