Space, landscape and a different rhythm

Desert & Sea

Let the landscape set the pace. Begin with the scale and geology of Makhtesh Ramon, then continue to the Red Sea only after checking the route, conditions and the group's needs. Days are built around suitable outdoor windows, with room to rest rather than an obligation to keep moving.

The route

Mitzpe Ramon · Makhtesh Ramon · Eilat extension

Made for

Families, friends and small private groups who enjoy nature with thoughtful comfort.

One way your story could unfold

A little structure.
A lot to discover.

01

Find the desert rhythm

Travel to Mitzpe Ramon with a realistic transfer plan and time to settle in. Depending on daylight and conditions, enjoy a suitable viewpoint close to the base. Keep the first evening simple, allowing the group to adjust before any more involved outdoor programme.

02

Understand the landscape

Begin with a reserved visit to the Makhtesh Ramon visitor centre, then choose an outdoor experience appropriate to the weather and group. A short, well-chosen route may be more rewarding than a long hike. Leave the middle of a hot day for rest.

03

A day with space

Choose a second landscape experience or a slower day near the base, depending on energy and conditions. An evening astronomy session may be arranged with a suitable provider and weather plan. Night activities use an approved setting, rather than an improvised walk on unfamiliar trails.

04

Continue towards the sea

Transfer to Eilat only once the current route and regional advice have been reviewed. Keep the journey realistic, with planned stops and no assumption that an unmarked desert detour is suitable. On arrival, settle in and let the rest of the day remain open.

05

Meet the reef thoughtfully

Plan a Coral Beach visit around swimming ability, supervision and current conditions. Use the designated access points and keep the reef protected. Guests who prefer not to enter the water should have a comfortable alternative, followed by an easy shared meal and time to rest.

06

A measured return

Allow the final day for the confirmed return journey or an independently arranged extension. Do not assume a domestic flight or connection is operating without checking the actual schedule. Keep enough margin for the next stage of travel rather than adding one more excursion.

Before we put dates in the diary

  • Outdoor routes depend on weather, current closures and participants' abilities. Avoid hiking during heatwaves or flood risk, and follow marked routes and official instructions.
  • Eilat is a separate extension with substantial travel time. Current advice includes restrictions near the Egypt border, so the exact route must be reviewed.
  • Astronomy, guided activities and water experiences require suitable providers and confirmed conditions. This sample guarantees neither weather nor wildlife sightings.
Our journeys are starting points, not scheduled departures. Routes and experiences depend on current official guidance, local conditions and the needs of your group. Read our travel notes before making commitments.
